To improve the comprehensive performance of glass lined reactor in chemical production, the following four optimization measures are proposed to improve reaction efficiency, ensure operational safety and process stability:

1. Optimize Heating Methods
Select an appropriate heating solution based on your process characteristics, including but not limited to external jacket heating, semi-pipe coil U-jacket, or electric heating.
By adopting a double jacket (jacket + inner coil) structure or adding spiral baffles to the inner wall, the heat transfer area is effectively expanded and the turbulent flow effect of the medium is enhanced.
2. Choose the most suitable agitator method for the material.
Select the appropriate impeller type based on the material’s viscosity and reaction type.
Common glass-lined agitator methods include anchor agitator, frame agitator, paddle agitator, impeller agitator, and combination agitator. For high-viscosity materials, use an anchor agitator or a propeller agitator. Use a propeller agitator for faster dispersion of solid materials.

3. Control the feeding method and sequence.
For exothermic reactions, use a dropwise or batch-wise method to control the reaction rate and avoid excessive heat release that can lead to temperature runaway and increased side reactions. Optimizing the feeding sequence can sometimes reduce the production of unnecessary intermediate byproducts.
4. Maintenance and upgrade of glass lined reactor
a. Regularly inspect the glass lining: Regularly inspect the enamel surface for damage, cracks, or cracking. Any minor damage can lead to corrosion of the substrate, and corrosion products can catalyze side reactions. Furthermore, the corrosion layer can impair heat transfer. If damage is detected, the system should be immediately removed from service and professionally repaired.
b. Upgrade the control system: Upgrading from manual controls to automated control systems (DCS/PLC) enables precise and stable control of parameters such as temperature, pressure, speed, and dosing flow rate. This reduces human error and ensures that each batch of reactions proceeds under optimal conditions, thereby improving overall efficiency and product consistency
Safety Reminder: Any changes to equipment and processes must undergo rigorous evaluation to ensure they do not introduce new safety risks. Before undertaking any major modifications, we recommend consulting with the equipment manufacturer or a professional process engineer.
